👋 Father of 4 here. 😰 As an employee, I struggled to make ends meet for years. 📆 I quit my job in 2014, and started my own company. 📈 Since then, I’ve consistently made more money as a founder than an employee. A big part of my entrepreneurial motivation *is* money. https://twitter.com/apompliano/status/1401544790869786628 …

The best founders never do it for the money
🤔 If tech bro founders are really “not doing it for the money” how come none of them want to pay more taxes?
🎉 Announcement: I'm rebooting the @megamaker podcast. 💻 This season, I'll be helping @joshuaanderton launch a brand new indie SaaS. 🙏 I'm editing the first episode now, but I could use some help building anticipation: 🎧 please, subscribe! https://podcast.megamaker.co/subscribe
I know a bunch of incredible entrepreneurs whose original motivation was to “pay for diapers, day care, healthcare” for their kids. In my books, that makes them “the best founders.” 💯
🎙 In 2018 I co-founded @TransistorFM with Jon Buda. A big part of our motivation was to build a better product for podcasters. But from the beginning we were clear: we wanted the business to give *us* a better life. ✅ More freedom ✅ More calm ✅ And yes, more dough

Also, yes: lol, what does “best founders” even mean? 😆 Jack gets it: https://twitter.com/jackellis/status/1401642156968734720 …

@mijustin What does “best” mean? Highest revenue? Highest profit margin? Highest staff to revenue ratio? Highest founder ownership percentage? The least cortisol of a founder/company? I don’t get it.
I've been asking for a "premium version of Twitter" for a long time, so I signed up for @TwitterBlue. I *really* wanted to like it, but... I'm going to cancel. Currently, it misses the mark for avid Twitter users. Review here: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/twitter-blue#comment-1380245 …
When I first saw it, the "Family Income Calculator" by @EconomicPolicy was eye opening for me: https://www.epi.org/resources/budget/ … There's a massive financial jump to go from "no kids" to "kids" in America. For many entrepreneurs, *this* is our motivation: providing for our families.

The pre-requirement for a successful SaaS is customer demand. If there’s no existing desire from customers, it doesn’t matter how good your marketing is (or how passionate you are). Customer demand forms the baseline for your company’s trajectory.
Copying and pasting from Word/Google Docs into another WYSIWYG editor is still a nightmare! 🙈 @gabesumner wrote this 10(!) years ago: https://medium.com/@gabesumner/copy-from-ms-word-paste-into-a-rich-text-wysiwyg-editor-53907c24cee5 … ("we can send rockets to mars, but don't expect to copy & paste formatted text successfully")
Still answering questions on my /r/saas AMA: https://www.reddit.com/r/SaaS/comments/nrjsao/im_40_years_old_and_i_finally_bootstrapped_a_saas/ …
100% this. Flexible work gives families more margin. https://twitter.com/alphacolin/status/1401204146959650826 …

If we had people on our team who never saw their kids because they were commuting 3-4 hrs a day, that would crush me. Remote isn’t perfect but for a lot of people it strikes trade offs that help them do meaningful work and have a full life.
Anyway, @joshuaanderton and I discuss a bunch of this (founders being motivated primarily to provide for their family) on tomorrow's episode of @megamaker. You can get it here: https://podcast.megamaker.co/subscribe
Super close to getting 1,000 downloads on today's episode of the re-booted @megamaker podcast. @joshuaanderton said he'd quit if we didn't get 1,000 downloads today. 😅 Can you help me out? 👉 https://podcast.megamaker.co/

Currently on Mojave. Is it time to upgrade? 😅

@podse_io Totally. I’ve been there! https://twitter.com/mijustin/status/1399062939890438144 …

Shout out to all the 22 year olds with newborns and no money. I’ve been there! 😅
@spencerfry @alphacolin @TransistorFM I’m still not convinced that every company needs to grow beyond 5-10 people. 🙏
